KCH Offers Living Life with Cancer Educational Series
One Day at a Time
When an individual receives a diagnosis of cancer, the sheer volume of adjustments that need to be made by the patient, his or her family and friends creates a need to manage emotions and learn to cope at a significantly new level. Although there is no special formula for helping individual patients and their support networks to cope with the diagnosis and ongoing treatment of cancer, there are factors and guidelines that many have found to be helpful.
As part of the Living Life with Cancer Educational Series, in the program, One Day at a Time, Emily Hummel will review some of these guidelines, with examples to demonstrate how they have been and can be put into application. The role of our emotional responses, with a focus on how we can manage them during such as time as a cancer diagnosis, will be discussed. The goal of the program is to equip the participants with more skills to cope and thrive when one, or a loved one, has been given a diagnosis of cancer.
This class is held in the Kishwaukee Community Hospital Roberts Conference Center on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. There is no cost, but registration is required. To register for this class, call 815.748.8962.
