The Kiwanis Club of DeKalb recently made its final pledge payment of $1,381 to Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Four local Kiwanis clubs, DeKalb Kiwanis, Sycamore Kiwanis, Kishwaukee-DeKalb Kiwanis, and Genoa-Kingston Kiwanis originally joined together to pledge $25,000 to the new Kishwaukee Community Hospital. A pediatrics room is named in their honor.

The Kiwanis Club of DeKalb raises around $30,000 annually with several fundraising activities including roasted corn sales at Cornfest, annual Peanut Day, pancake breakfast, flag program, and its Partnership Program (which receives support and donations from local businesses and individuals). The club supports sponsored youth programs in the middle and high schools, local agencies that serve the community and children, providing scholarships and various other activities and programs that focus on the community and children.

“The Kiwanis Club of DeKalb works hard to raise money to support children in our community and around the world. In addition to raising funds, we have several hands-on projects that our members volunteer for such as a reading program, planting flowers, building cribs or shelving units, and playing with children. We're a group of volunteers who enjoys helping others and we have a lot of fun in the process!” said Eva Rey, Kiwanis Club of DeKalb.
