By having your annual mammogram at Kish Hospital, you benefit from the sharp images produced by full-field digital mammography, an advancement over previous forms of digital mammography. Digital mammography images are able to show very small masses and are more visible on than on standard film screen mammograms.

Breast Cancer Treatment
For breast cancer treatment, you receive expert care at The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.At the hospital, the most up-to-date diagnostic breast cancer services are available to you, including digital stereotactic needle biopsy, ultrasound-guided biopsy, and breast MRI. Sentinel lymph node biopsy and breast reconstruction are options for women who need surgical treatment for breast cancer.
The Cancer Center utilizes the latest technology in diagnosing and treating cancer. Your treatment plan is specific to you as an individual and your type of cancer. Treatments may include a combination of surgery, radiation or infusion therapy such as chemotherapy, all of which can be provided locally, including breast reconstruction.
Breast Self-Examination Training
Learn proper technique for Breast Self-Examination using the Mamma Care method, a recognized standard throughout the world. Women and clinicians properly trained in this technique have found breast cancers as small as 3 mm in diameter. Kish Hospital offers one-on-one instruction provided by a certified MammaCare Breast Self-Examination Instructor.

For patients diagnosed with breast cancer, a meeting is arranged with the patient, their family, the nurse patient navigator, social worker, a medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, and surgeon to discuss treatment options. A complete care plan is developed with input from every discipline involved in the patient's care. Everyone involved will know exactly what the treatment plan is after the breast clinic meeting.
Patient Naviator
Jodi Diehl, RN, BSN, OCN, nurse patient navigator, helps guide women in breast health from a suspicious mammogram through a confirmed diagnosis, and if appropriate, treatment for cancer. She provides support and education to patients and their families, coordinates appointments for follow-up and referral, ensuring timely diagnosis, and assists in eliminating barriers to care. Jodi works closely with radiologists and physicians to provide seamless communication in caring for the patient. She teaches the MammaCare Method, the recognized standard for teaching and performing manual breast self-examinations throughout the world.
